Key highlights

  • Offline-first POS with IndexedDB mutation queuing, UUID-based server idempotency, and automatic sync with exponential backoff
  • Dual payment-provider integration (Stripe + MercadoPago): SaaS subscription billing (B2B) and in-restaurant customer payments (B2C), both with atomic webhook idempotency
  • Bill-of-materials costing engine with wastage factors, 40+ model multi-tenant schema, and 3-tier plan feature gating across 140+ API routes

The problem

The average restaurant in Latin America runs on WhatsApp groups, notebooks, and spreadsheets — with no real visibility into food cost, cash flow, or profitability.

Restaurant owners don't know their real food cost, can't track ingredient waste, have no daily P&L visibility, and manage staff with paper attendance sheets. Every operational pain is a manual process.

Existing solutions are either enterprise-grade and unaffordable, or single-purpose tools that don't integrate. Gourmetify replaces the entire stack with one affordable SaaS platform built for the realities of Latin American food service.

What I built

  • Multi-tenant PostgreSQL architecture with explicit row isolation across 40+ models, 5-role RBAC, and a centralized feature-flag system enforced across 140+ API route handlers
  • Offline-first POS using IndexedDB for mutation queuing, server-side UUID deduplication for idempotent sale submission, and automatic retry with exponential backoff — sales are never lost during outages
  • Dual payment-provider integration: Stripe for SaaS subscription billing (with automated grace-period and downgrade flows) and MercadoPago for in-restaurant customer payments — both with atomic webhook idempotency via a claimed-event table

In production with 5 active venues, processing 1,000+ tickets/month per venue. The platform spans 30+ operational modules: inventory with BOM recipe costing, Kanban order management with kitchen display, supplier procurement, employee attendance with PIN time clock, and automated financial reporting via email.
